SwimJunkie Challenge: CAMIGUIN
Shaped by centuries-old volcanic eruptions, Camiguin is known as the Island Born of Fire. Fourteen volcanos exist (Philvolcs number) on a single island, one remains on the active list. The volcanic island has so much to offer including black sand beaches (the result of eruptions), a sunken cemetery now overgrown with coral after sinking into the ocean in 1871, thriving reefs, and a striking white sandbar which we have the pleasure of swimming to or from on race day.
A modern national road runs the circumference of the island, a total of 60Km around. Guests can also explore waterfalls, hike up dormant volcanos, and sample the surprising variety of restaurants.
This is our second year in Camiguin and we are excited to introduce even more swimmers to the beauty of this less-visited (not for long!) but amazing island.

GETTING TO THE RACE SITE
Resorts can assist in arranging your travel to and from the race venue. You can also inquire about renting your own motorbikes or vehicles.
WHAT IS THE BEST TRAVEL ITINERARY FOR THE RACE
Recommended: ARRIVE FRIDAY, FLY OUT ON TUESDAY.
This is based on feedback from some of the participants in 2023, Year 1 of the Camiguin swim. This schedule allows time to reconn and swim the course on Saturday morning; and a full day on Monday to explore. There is a lot to do in Camiguin and it is best savored, and not rushed.
ARRIVE SATURDAY, FLY OUT ON MONDAY.
If you take the flight in from Cebu, you will arrive in the afternoon with a little breathing space before the race briefing. After Sunday's race you could visit a waterfall and have dinner at a mountain cafe. Monday morning, it may be possible to cram a visit to Mantigue, as long as your bags are packed because you'll need to be at the airport 1.5 hours before the 3pm departure time.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE BACK IN MANILA ON SUNDAY?
Yes, but the few who chose to do so this year said they would stay longer next time.
