The Venue
The Altitude OCR World Series-Asia will start at the Babadak (Ranger Station) in Kabayan, Benguet in the Philippines. Participants will travel around the trails heading to the summit and back with twelve to fifteen obstacles along the route.
Mt. Pulag is the Philippines second highest mountain at 2926 masl and is the 26th highest in the world. The summit is the tripoint of the Mt. Pulag National Park which borders the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao and Nueva Vizcaya.
Before it was closed to the public due to the pandemic, the park is famous for travelers and mountaineers with its panoramic vistas who brave its cold and conquers the challenging terrain. It is famous for the vast "sea of clouds" hovering over the mountain of the Cordillera every morning, the exceptional view of the Milky Way Galaxy at dawn and the vast grasslands..
It has a large diversity of flora and fauna, various native wildlife species - the mountain is perhaps the most biodiverse location in the Philippines. The lower elevation part of the Mount Pulag will mesmerize you with its mossy forest full of ferns, lichens, and moss.
More than that, the entire mountain is believed to be a sacred resting ground. It has been proclaimed as a national park and is inhabited by different ethnic groups such as the Ibalois, Kalanguya, Kankana-eys, Karao, and Ifugao.
The whole experience of walking and running through the mossy forest, being welcomed by the vast grasslands surrounded by a sea of cotton clouds and mountain ranges as the sun rises and shows its mightiness while braving the cold weather. It feels surreal being that close to heaven at the rooftop of Luzon. We hope you get to experience running the trails of Mt. Pulag, it's time to come home. Let's go!
