Race Ya is on its Global Journey: Top 10 at Global Acceleration Program of DTI and QBO

Posted at March 13, 2022

Race Ya is selected as the top ten startups who will advance to the DTI Global AQELERATION Program (GAP)  of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and QBO Innovation Hub (QBO).

The program started with a 12-session acceleration phase which would help startups develop a feasible market expansion plan and strategy through a series of learning sessions with fifteen selected startups in the fields of wellness, eCommerce, healthcare, edtech, fintech, and artificial intelligence.

After the first phase, ten start ups were selected to move forward to the three-month post-acceleration phase which will focus on the execution of its market expansion plan and strategy.

As part of the ten startups chosen, we will receive support in the form of business matching and mentorship and will also be connected to international companies and startup enablers and be granted opportunities to pitch internationally.

Our inclusion in the program will enable Race Ya to move farther in its mission to help create an athlete in everyone by empowering more individuals and vendors in the sports l health and wellness industry; growing to 300K individual users and thousands of vendors: event organizers, coaches and sports facilities and brand partners.

The pandemic has opened our eyes to how sports can help individuals live better; we saw more individuals running, walking, biking, going outside  for their health; not just physical but mentally and emotionally.  As a tech start up, this presented us with both an opportunity and a challenge.  As mass gatherings and travels were restricted; our lives became borderless with digitalization.  As sporting events were not allowed, the cravings for doing it heightened among the experienced ones and the interest and the need for doing sports increased.  With these two factors, our mission as a platform became clearer - to help create an athlete in everyone.  And we can achive this by creating more opportunities through providing access, integration and digitalization that is affordable, flexible and inclusive.  Everyone deserves to earn their own medal, whatever level of abilities they are at in the sports.  And we are toeing this starting line with everyone.  With the GAP, we hope to reach not just more users and partners.  We hope to raise the flag high for the country - in the sports industry as a  Filipino born and made tech start up.  Come journey with us. - I am Tin Ferrera, CEO of RaceYa, an ultra distance runner and I'll Race Ya!

About the PROGRAM

The DTI Global AQELERATION Program (GAP) is an acceleration and soft landing program that will help mature Filipino startups enter Southeast Asian markets and support various needs such as business development, fundraising, and other strategic opportunities.

“Over the past two years, we have seen Filipino startups grow and expand, and it is high time that they receive support as they expand their business to new markets,” shared DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita M. Aldaba. “Our homegrown startups have the potential to be future unicorns and tech leaders, and the DTI GAP will enable these startups to reach new markets and customers and fulfill their potential.”

The program is composed of two phases: a 12-session acceleration phase which would help startups develop a feasible market expansion plan and strategy through a series of learning sessions; and a three-month post-acceleration phase which will focus on its execution. Out of the startups participating in the acceleration phase, only ten will be selected to move forward with the post-acceleration.

This program will be implemented in partnership with international accelerators and trade missions in ASEAN.

The startups that will be onboarded for this program include Prosperna, Senti AI, Plentina, ChatGenie, Agro-Digital PH, Frontlearners, Wela School Systems, Steer by Quick Reach, Race Ya, MedCheck, OMG! (Oh My Genie!), Automart.ph, Dealogikal Corp., Ask Lex PH Academy, and FHMoms, Inc.

“We have entered a new phase in the ecosystem where more Filipino startups are not only seeing larger investments but are also ready and looking to venture outside of the country to pursue growth. This program will help our startups gain a foothold in the rest of Southeast  Asia, and eventually even expand to Europe, North America, and the rest of the world,” said IdeaSpace Foundation and QBO Innovation Hub Executive Director Katrina Rausa Chan.

“As the ecosystem matures, so should the level of support, and we’re glad to be working with DTI to pave a path for Filipino startups to become regional and global giants.”

The DTI-GAP will run until June 2022. To learn more about the program and the startups, visit the DTI-CIG Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DTI.CIG. ♦
